MA Music (La Trobe University in Melbourne), MA Educational Technology Leadership (George Washington University in Washington, DC), ADE (Apple Distinguished Educator), ISTE Ambassador and International Representative on the Board of Directors, Member of Horizon Report Board of Advisers 2008-2011, co-founder of Flat Classroom® Projects LLC and Flat Classroom® Conference and Live Events Inc., Chair of the Educator Advisory Board for the Global Education Conference 2010.

Julie is an enthusiastic, global-minded education leader and innovator. Originally from Melbourne, Australia where she gained recognition as a music educator, over the past 14 years she has been teaching and leading the use of technology in schools in Zambia, Kuwait, Bangladesh, Qatar, and is currently E-Learning Coordinator and MYP Coordinator at Beijing BISS International School, China.

Julie is recognized worldwide for her innovative programs using a wide array of Web 2.0 tools to transform learning for the emerging digital, "world-is-flat" educational landscape. From ubiquitous mobile technology programs to the Flat Classroom® projects and live events that provide opportunities for constructivist learning, Julie leads the way in connecting communities and brings front line experiences to share with teachers, school leaders and policy makers alike.

Toni Olivieri-Barton

Toni Olivieri-Barton has been teaching computers to adults and children for over 16 years. She has taught in schools for the last 6 years.
PD1_Toni_Barton.jpgShe currently is coordinating technology at Shanghai Community International School at the lower school level. This is her first overseas teaching assignment. She recently taught high school students and has spent a lot of time assisting two school districts with staff development. This summer she won and ISTE Award with Lisette Casey. Toni holds a BA in Philosophy and a minor in Mathematics from Saint Mary's College in Notre Dame, Indiana. Through her Flat Classroom Certified Teacher class, Toni has started a blog about technology and one about her travels. She is hoping to continue to bring her new global experience to wherever her future takes her. In her spare time, Toni likes to hike, read, quilt and practice yoga.
